I am writing in reference to an illegal deer butchering business within a neighboring house's yard. The neighbor has installed a walk in freezer and butchering equipment that can be seen from our kitchen window. This has been going on for over a year.
Each week a suet truck pulls up alongside this neighbor's house and multiple containers of deer bones, gristle and fat can be seen piling to the top of the truck. Other members of the household have reported seeing blood from these animals being washed down the driveway and into the town sewers.
On multiple occasions I and the other members of my household have seen trucks blocking the flow of normal traffic on the street. These trucks either have magnetized signs advertising the neighbor's butchering business along with his address and phone number or belong to his presumed clients and visibly carry deer carcasses to be processed on site. This block of Morgan Place adjoins the Belleville Turnpike, a major roadway that borders the town of North Arlington and is one block from the busiest intersection of town. I have also personally witnessed the neighbor standing in the roadway talking to a man who was driving a truck with the butchering sign on the side while rush hour traffic on a Friday was desperately trying pass around them and seek access to the turnpike.
This business is clearly not a secret because of the signs on the trucks and also multiple advertisements the neighbor has posted online and in publications (links to follow).
Our major concern is not only the traffic flow on an already busy street but also the seemingly unregulated butchering kitchen as well as the use of town sewers to dispose of animal remains. This business is creating not only a nuisance but also a potential public health hazard.
