It's a tricky spot. I feel uncomfortable at that underpass even in broad daylight. It's an important passageway through the park--surely there are other creative solutions in addition to lighting.

Its a beautiful park, but after seeing prostitution near/under that bridge on more than one occasion (in broad daylight), It skeeves me out to much. I havent been there in 2 years or more

Time to close up the park all i hear about is muggings reported every day on this site or in NHI

Consider color of underpass (white will reflect available light) and removing visual abstructions for oncomers (ability to see through the underpass before getting there could be lifesaving).

I agree - a brightly colored underpass with no visual obstructions is definitely helpful. As it is, is is so easy for someone to hide between the columns that line the balustrade along the river (as did the guy who attacked me). Video cameras and emergency call-boxes might also deter illegal activity. Or a high-profile art installation -- anything to increase "good" traffic in the park and reclaim this otherwise wonderful public space!

The lack of adequate lighting under the Chapel St. overpass at Edgewood Park is a recipe for disaster. I find the Park's response to be inadequate. Must we wait for someone to be murdered under the bridge before getting serious about this issue?
