Fix It

It is a mess there in the afternoons but it's downright scary in the mornings. I've almost been hit several times crossing Lee Hwy to get to work.

SR#13-00129168 has been submitted to Traffic Engineering for review.

How long does it take to review and make a decision on this. It is ridiculous!

Please see about getting this corrected. It should never take this long to review due to it being so dangerous.

Why has this still not been fixed????

Liz, One tube was laid to measure traffic flow but was placed past Walker Rd which did not pick up any west bound traffic turning onto Walker Rd. It was only there for a couple of days. Any updates on this issue?

The distance between Walker Rd and the signalized intersection at Tyner Rd is approximately 850 ft. On a high
volume road like Lee Hwy with a 45 mph speed limit, signalizing Walker Rd so close to the signal at Tyner Rd could
have some very dangerous consequences and introduce a great deal of inefficiency into the traffic flow.
Furthermore, a traffic study in this area showed that there is not enough traffic volume on Walker Rd to meet the
minimum peak-hour warrant to justify a traffic signal. Alternative routes are available. Signal is not warranted.

Perhaps a signal is not the answer. However I feel that a dedicated turn lane to Walker road on southbound Lee Hwy would be of great assistance. Lee Hwy merging from 2 lanes to 1 at this intersection causes issues with traffic frequently swerving into the turn lane to go around that which is turning. I'm sure no further explanation is needed to say how unsafe that situation is. Can this be a consideration?

Liz you need to actually read the comment RIGHT BEFORE YOURS because then you would know that only ONE tube was put down, and was placed PAST Walker Rd and did not pick up westbound traffic therefore your "reading" is INNACURATE. Please actually do it right this time and FIX THIS ISSUE.

We are going to take another look at it to see if there are some other traffic control improvements that may be needed, other than a signal.

Was almost hit head on a few days ago when someone swerved into the turn lane to go around a vehicle turning onto Walker Road instead of coming to a stop behind them & waiting. This really needs to be handled not just "looked at".

Can't they just widen the road to make a proper right turn lane onto Walker Rd at the very least? This is beyond ridiculous.

I agree with you ajones. That seems to me to be a fairly simple solution.

The little white arrow does NOTHING.

It's so close to Walker Rd that it won't help the traffic coming from Bonny Oaks or further down Lee Hwy.

Either put in a stop light or make a real turning lane. It's not that hard to understand. Fix it.

Yeah and I almost got hit earlier this week by someone else trying to pass me on the RIGHT ech though they were gong straight and I continue to almost get hit by people trying to pass on the left as well almost every day.
