Description

During Irene Verizon Pole #3 East side of Intervale Road, South of the Driveway to #5 Intervale Rd was cracked below ground level when trees pulled down lines attached to it. A crew from out of state tied a rope to a tree on the west side of the street and winched the pole to more of an upright position. It has been held up by that rope since Irene. The out of state crew said this should work for "a while". I have placed multiple calls to LIPA and to Verizon with minimal results..One crew did work on Pole #2--Just north of pole #3, replacing that pole which was also cracked, but above ground. The wires on Pole #2 are tied to the pole with rope. No action has been taken on Pole #3 which, when it cracked , tore the service and mast off of the residence at #6 Intervale Rd. I do not believe that a cracked pole, tied to a swaying tree, is an appropriate solution. My calls to LIPA are directed to Verizon with no results. Image is of pole #3 shortly after Irene. (Pole is currently closer to verticar, but held as such with a rope tied to a tree on the opposite side of the street.)
