Description
Oakwood Ave is a very, very busy truck route. Along with 1000's of passenger vehicles, 18 wheelers travel up and down this road all day and night.
Most residents of Oakwood ave have on-street parking only.
Since the city only pushes the snow toward the curb (into our parking spaces) and doesn't REMOVE the snow, residents are forced to park partially in the travel lane!
My vehicle was hit yesterday. I was parked as far out of the travel lane as I could get. My wheels were in the snowbank. The now banks are encroaching into the street roughly 2-4 feet away from the curbs.
The police had to waste time to come make out a report when they could have been doing something productive.
Does the city have any big snow blowing machines (like Albany has) that chew up and spit out the snow into an adjacent dump truck? If Troy has snow removal equipment, why isn't it being utilized? Especially, in busy, dangerous places like Oakwood Ave.

I don't get it either.
The city of troy "asked" people to park on the even side of the road yesterday so they could plow the odd side. I did my duty and parked on the even side.
Last night, on Oakwood ave, it didn't look like they have plowed the odd side any closer to the curb.
So, today everyone were "asked" to park on the odd side so the city can plow the even side. The workers at H&V collision and Ross Valve park on the streets all the way up to and past sausse ave.
They don't live here so they don't bother acknowledging the parking restrictions. They just park wherever they can.
I parked my vehicles in the hospital parking lot last night.
I come outside of my home this morning and see the even side of the street is full from 10th street all the way up to middleburgh! How in the heck is the city supposed to plow out our parking spots if they don't FORCE people to move their vehicles?!
I don't understand why the city of troy won't enact a snow emergency like other cities do?
PLEASE PLASE PLEASE at least come remove the snow on Oakwood Ave on Monday the 7th when the street cleaning is in force. You have 3 hour windows do complete the entire street.
What the heck are we paying taxes for?

They came through with a HUGE snowblower today! We can safely park on Oakwood Ave again.
Maybe they'll be fewer smashed drivers side mirrors on parked cars now.
Thanks for getting it done Troy DPW!

I just read in the TU that Troy is currently taking bids on snow removal!?
Wouldn't it be cheaper in the long run for Troys taxpayers to buy it's own snow removal equipment?
