Consider putting in a right turn only lane. The traffic backs up on Grooms Road at the intersection of Moe Road and installing a RIGHT TURN ONLY lane would alleviate much of the back up.

The last post raises a significant safety issue. At that location Grooms Rd not only intersects Moe Rd but also the multi-use trail on the east side of Moe Rd. Also there are no pedestrian indications or marked crosswalks at this location
(http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=moe+rd+%26+grooms+rd,+12065&aq=&sll=37.230328,-95.712891&sspn=51.227313,134.912109&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Grooms+Rd+%26+Moe+Rd,+Clifton+Park,+Saratoga,+New+York+12065&ll=42.840353,-73.793879&spn=0,0.032938&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=42.840323,-73.793732&panoid=LVNHTgT2j_v707KIH8qk-A&cbp=12,291.57,,0,5.69)
A right turn lane would increase the crossing distance for pedestrians by another 12 feet. Without pedestrian push buttons and pedestrian indications it would be challenging. At Moe and Clifton Park Center Rds Right Turns on Red have been prohibited for an almost identical situation. Driver inattention making RTOR caused several near misses with pedestrians & bicyclists.

Al - Yes, although you're pointing out a second and seperate issue. I understand and appreciate there is a balance to be struck among the numberous requests citizens have and the limited resources of gov't. I felt compelled to post this (I was the original poster as "Anonymous") as an issue as I believe it does impact a great enough people to warrant it being pointed out and discussed. Without doubt, there are MANY things we as residents can bring to the public's attention. I guess it's simply getting the right people to agree on what particular issues deserves the public dollars.
By the way, I think it's fair to assume that these improvemenmts don't always equate to an INCREASE in taxes. I believe (but not 100% sure) that a portion of the budget is dedicated to ongoing improvements? Hence, no additional INCREASE? I know that may sound like an idealistic approach and may not be very realistic, but true nonetheless?
Thanks for taking the time to pay attention and post your comments. Do you have any suggestions on where to direct this issue as you seem to be very knowledgeable on these matters? Town of CP? Saratoga County? Both? thanks in advance -Mike

Mike,
To answer your last question first, Joe Ritchey is the Commisioner of Public Works for Saratoga County.

He is a very responsive individual and will get back to you very quickly. The ideal time to have dealt with this intersection was when the road was being resurfaced last year ( I believe).
True, any single improvement will not result in an increase in taxes but would require an allocation (or reallocation) or resources that cannot be used elsewhere. Yes I think you're being idealistic but there's no harm in that. I've been in transportation for 42 years so I lost some of my optimism.
With your interest in the Town and transportation I invite you to participate in the Clifton Park Town Center Public Design Workshop that will be held next month. The announcement can be found at: http://www.slideshare.net/akaroly/clifton-park-town-center-public-design-workshop
I'd also invite you to attend the Clifton Park Highway Safety Advisory Committee meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Town Hall. http://www.cliftonpark.org/townhall/highwaysafety/

you must be thinking of a different location.
there is no Park n Ride at this location.
this issue is at the corner of GROOMS and MOE - off of Exit 8A of the Northway.
Perhaps you're thinking of Exit 8? (Crescent Road)
