Description

There is no crosswalk painted across the turning lane from Peeler Rd to Winters Chapel Rd Eastbound. There is also no sign alerting motorists that a crosswalk is ahead and this presents a very dangerous situation as motorists cannot see the crosswalk area until they enter the right turn lane at the corner. Flashing LED lights are need to alert drivers that pedestrians are in the crosswalk and that they must STOP for pedestrians when they are at the edge of or in a crosswalk. We have had numerous motorists who refuse to yield to pedestrian in the crosswalk. We've even had motorists cross the double yellow line to go around us when we were in the crosswalk!!

We need flashing LED lights on the pedestrian signs and embedded in the roadway along the edges of the crosswalks to capture the attention of motorists who seem oblivious to pedestrians. The city can purchase these from suppliers such as Traffic Safety Corporation at http://www.xwalk.com/

Now that the Walmart Neighborhood Center has opened, it is essential that there are safe walking paths for people to access the newly renovated center.

There are also no crosswalks at Glaze Drive or at Four Oaks Drive. The one at Glaze Drive is needed to provide walking access to the new Autozone store opened on the corner of Peeler Rd. and Winters Chapel Rd.
