How is that blocking parking? The poles are on the sidewalk and it is illegal to park on any sidewalk. Parking on the sidewalk can cause damage, or further damage, to the concrete and cause a problem for any underground plumbing.

I totally agree with you. parking on the sidewalk is completely illegal and needs to be stopped. I have card ticketed that park on my sidewalk and I put notes on their cars. the problem with the posts is that cars not can't get their door open when they park on the st. he put the poles in such a way that it keeps the car door from being able to open.

Looks like an eyesore to me. Is he going to repave the sidewalk? Seems to be in pretty bad shape.

it is a total eye sore. thats part of the reason I'm trying to find out if it is legal for him to just put them up or not.

If you look at the google street view, i think the guy was sick of being unable to get in their front door. The car looks like it was using the sidewalk as a driveway and parked on their front steps, I'd be tired of it too

I totally don't blame him. people park on our sidewalk all the time. however, there are better means of stopping it. like having cars ticked and towed. you don't put ugly posts up that block and make it difficult to park on the st. that is two spaces that no one can easily park in. that door on the side there isn't actually in use. Plus according to the zoning regulations, you can't put posts up in front on any stairs or doorway. so he totally is out of compliance.

I found out he didn't need a permit to put in the poles.
