The right side should have both no standing and no parking signs, or simply no stopping would work. The intent, while not very obvious, is to keep the right side open and flowing while cars/taxis can stop on the left side briefly, or small trucks can make deliveries. I agree with the issue but we are in Saratoga Springs where there are no clear rules/signs for anyone. It would make more sense to have the left side a clear path since taxis should use the passenger side to load/unload from. A standing vehicle is supposed to have a driver present so there is no need for them to exit onto the left sidewalk.
