Description
Speeders, drag racing from South St (Henry Park to Hartford Turnpike) in both directions.
School kids walk to take the bus, seniors are jogging and or walking.
This is on going issue.....Speed limit is 35 mph on South St, we need enforcement and ticketing
Someone will get hurt, and town officials will be responsible for not acting sooner.
Thanks

Hi Art,
Speeding in residential areas is one of my pet peeves. Is it constant or rampant? Or only at certain times of the day?
If you can narrow it down to a time of day (or even day of the week) when the worst offenders are abusing your neighborhood, you might help improve the impact of police enforcement when they do get a cruiser set up there to write some tickets. In defense of police departments all over JI Land, I know a lot of them do quite a bit of enforcement but driver behavior is a tough nut to crack.
I contacted Captain Stephen Clark at the Vernon PD on your behalf and left a message. You can reach him at 860-872-9126. James L Kenny is police chief.
Let me know how it goes.

Here's one more story on the speeding topic:

A lot of folks responded after the story last week. I'm also working on a third piece about West Hartford's traffic calming efforts, which they say are getting results.
