Beginning at 6pm tonight and going through noon tomorrow, a snow removal operation will be in effect on the following streets:
Greene
Lyon
Hughes
Jefferson
Academy
On these streets, and citywide, park only on the even side of the street. Any vehicles parked on the odd side of these streets will be ticketed and towed at owner’s expense.
For information on free off-street parking throughout the city, call 946-8221 or check city website at www.cityofnewhaven.com.

An update from Wooster Square Block Watch:
I've been getting the same answer from EOC that snow will be removed from Lyon. I'm now reaching out to various City officials in the hopes that lower Lyon can receive the same service as upper Lyon.
Unfortunately, we are now going to get two days of mixed precipitation that may put this on the back burner, but only for now. I will continue to monitor this until snow is actually removed.
In the meantime, here are some things you can do to survive this week:
1. Park in off-street parking lots or on the EVEN side until further notice. Parking lot information can be found at www.cityofnewhaven.com
2. Continue to call the Emergency Operations Center: 946-8221. They are dutifully cataloging the calls and perhaps a critical mass of calls will get some action.
3. Continue to upload photos to SeeClickFix. When I am talking to City officials I'm sending this link so that they can see the problem.
4. Sign up for future alerts either with the City of New Haven (http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/EmergencyInfo/optin.asp) or with the Block Watch email (http://woostersqwatch.com/)
5. Keep on shoveling. Clean off cars quickly and remove the snow away from the street, rather than at the front and back of the vehicle. Help your neighbors with the task, and keep me posted.

This is an absolute disaster, and the lack of ANY communication from the city for this is inexcusable.
Just yesterday, 3 trucks got stuck on Bradley to Lyon, for several hours each time including a city school bus full of kids that got stuck for almost 2 hours.
Were are now weeks past when this should have been addressed. The worst part is that with one truck with salt and sand and about an hour's worth of time this can be fixed.
My fellow neighbors have been pretty fantastic, doing far more shoveling and snow moving than they should have to.

Thanks for reporting. Please open an issue if plowing becomes an issue again.
I strongly agree that sidewalks need to be maintained much more carefully in the winter - in fact they should be maintained before streets, since many people in New Haven do not have the option of driving and need clear sidewalks in order to get around. This past winter, there were hundreds of injuries due to ice falls and children were being forced to walk in the middle of the streets like Whalley Ave.
