This single block is a disaster. The pavement is a disgrace and the garbage is shameful. Of course, if there were adequate garbage cans, perhaps people wouldn't feel compelled to leave it on the steeet.
Someone (I'm guessing DPW) took care of this earlier in the summer and it wasn't me reporting it, so that was a nice surprise. I have reported to the Resident Response Center: W024653-092513
From the city: "We will put the location on our property maintenance list to have it cleaned." Circle back in a month or so to determine if they've done anything. I've spoken to the RRC and they completely slammed, apparently quality of life complaints are up 400% since the new administration took over.
It is a shame. The uplifted sidewalk on Grand Street from SS Sandy was fixed within a year. I have lived in Jersey City for 8 years and the sidewalk on Manilla between 1st and 2nd has been a mess. Why was Grand fixed within a year and this one lands on a property maintenance list?
The sidewalk on Grand was fixed in November 2013 only after I contacted Mark Redfield about it, and his office sent them a letter telling them to repair it. This was after I had reported it here in August and nothing happened. Unfortunately it is a property owner's responsibility to repair sidewalks, crazy as that seems.
