The area is upscale and the neighbors are nice so all appears safe and secured. Bicycles have been stolen from fences in front of Pepe's and Consiglio's, very open to the street during the summer. The fence at Consiglio's was actually hacksawed to take the bicycle. People who live in this "lovely" area have to become more aware and vigilant. The Wooster Square loveliness belies the criminal activity that is ever present.

Sure, people need to be more vigilant, but to what extent? If you lock your bike to a fence (in any city) it shows that you are aware of your surroundings and the fact that criminals are always lurking. What else should area residents do to be vigilant and aware?

I guess I am just a big fan of lighting and cameras as a deterrent and a mechanism to catch stupid people who do these things.

lighting is a big deterrent, and this city is poorly lit. Unfortunately given the current budget problems, it would take an effort by all (city, business, Yale) for it to be improved. Yale has been installing additional lighting around the campus. But much more needs to be done.

We still want this bicycle back. We put a lot of work into a beat-up old Schwinn and my wife painted it meticulously. And some jackass took it and probably sold it for scrap -- I mean, what tough guy would ride a pink bike or even one this old. And it's a girl's bike.

Still want the bicycle returned.

I swore i saw this bike , being pedaled by an older Hispanic Man , cruising happily down Elm Street towards or near the NH Green
