Description
Walking to work was certainly an adventure everywhere but especially on the Green. Please clear the sidewalks while you have the chance and before the next snowstorm! Thanks.

The paths through and around the green are high-traffic pedestrian areas and need to be salted/sanded. Very Dangerous!!

This was a major problem this morning in multiple areas of the city. The sidewalks need to be cleared and maintained free of dangerous ice sheets.
If the city is unsure how to do this (which, apparently, they are), they should look at the area around the Yale campus, which is completely free of ice.
If this is not addressed immediately and maintained, it will get worse as the winter goes on.
Given that the majority of New Haven residents do not drive to work, maintaining major sidewalks like this one should be a priority before the roads are cleared.

I understand that the timing and nature of this recent round of storms has made snow/ice removal and management difficult, but as Melissa and Mark noted, the sidewalks around the Green were by far the worst ones that I walked on this morning. Given the high number of pedestrians in this area that walk to work and use the many bus stops around the Green, the state of things out there is inexcusable. This area should be a top priority for snow and ice removal.

I agree with AvonLady. Sure, salt costs money, but so does plowing all of the 200+ miles of small side streets in New Haven. Maintaining key sidewalk corridors that are used by thousands of pedestrians, such as the New Haven Green or Whalley Avenue, should be the #1 top priority. If there isn't enough budget to keep them in an acceptable condition, then some tougher decisions need to be made about how often the small streets around the city get plowed.

Not completely. Walkways parallel to temple and church are still a mess.
