I believe more shopping and resturants in this area would be very beneficial and contribute to the overloaded growth in the Huntsville Area. We need to grow East instead of the West!!
Shopping options to include entertainment (e.g. movie theater, etc.) and perhaps a pedestrian mall will safe walking trails to supplement the increasing volume of folks driving over to walk up High Mountain Road by the Powell Cemetery. Got fit Huntsville?
Great place for strip mall anchored by Target smiliar to the ones on Carl T. Jones and University Drive. Was in planning a couple of years ago but needs to be started and completed now.
Yes, shopping/restaurants please! This area has already grown past the need for a larger shopping center and more restaurant options. A Target complex similar to those already in place would be ideal.
No, it's really not. Do you work? Do you have to come home over Chapman Mountain everyday? Have you seen the traffic already? Put the target somewhere else or fix the traffic issues first.
I live east of Chapman, work in Huntsville and deal with the traffic every day. Shopping areas east of the mountain would not increase traffic problems over Chapman Mountain. Much of that traffic is crossing the mountain to get to stores that aren't closer.
A shopping center (Target, Walmart, etc.) with entertainment facilities (movie theater, etc.) would be a great addition to this side of town. All the folks who live east of Huntsville and who have to cross Chapman Mountain everyday to go to work would finally have shopping and amenities conveniently located on their work/home routes instead of having to go out of their way. Not to mention folks who live out in Gurley, New Market and beyond who would benefit from having larger, more accommodating shopping options closer to their homes. Great idea!
Just a thought, but could it be logically concluded that city tax revenue generated from increased economic activity that retail development would bring to this part of town would allow for a larger road construction budget to address any pending or consequent traffic congestion issues?
