I've referred this to our Public Works Department. When the staff has had a chance to respond I’ll post an update. Thanks for reporting.

Someone on City Council must be getting paid on this. This is at least the 10th time this issue has been posted, many times by NCSU employees who said they walk to Cameron Village. There is nowwhere to stand when you cross from the Bank of America across Clark then to cross Oberlin. The fence blocks the sight line and makes it very dangerous for pedestrians.

I just want to be able to cross the street without getting run over...Someone please fix this!!

Staff has done a field investigation of this site. There are crosswalks with pedestrian signals across the western and northern leg of this intersection. There is an area to stand in the northwest quadrant to wait for the pedestrian signal to cross either Clark Ave or Oberlin Rd. Due to the construction the pedestrian access in this area is not ideal, however accommodations have been provided for pedestrians to continue to use the pedestrian signals at this intersection. Staff has witnessed pedestrians safely using these crosswalks and refuge on multiple occasions.

The City is in the process of also adding pedestrian signals on the eastern leg of the intersection. Once the location for the upgraded pedestrian heads has been worked out with the contractor in the northwest quadrant then the additional signal heads will be installed on the east side of the intersection.

This is unacceptable..Where is the handicapped Crossing...and accessibility?

I don't even like to DRIVE through this area. It's dangerous for all involved. Ironic, isn't it, that all this development is supposed to make Cameron Village a more "walkable" community?

I agree..It is the worst Traffic Engineering that I have ever seen..The intersection cannot handle the traffic..I hear that they want to add a traffic circle to the Clark Ave/Oberlin Rd Intersection..but there is no way that this will work..The Traffic Circle on Hillsborough Street is to blame for the issues here,as well...Please do a thorough study of this area..Come on down and check it out!!!I want everyone to spend the day walking around the neighborhood and you tell me that this is safe to cross..!

Just FYI: there was an accident at this intersection this morning around 7:15 am.

I guess they want to wait until someone gets killed,before they fix this..

Hey, Seth Hollar! Since you want to turn Raleigh into other places you've lived, like Tokyo and San Francisco, what's your solution? I appreciate that there are folks that wish to make Raleigh a more walkable city, but most of the folks that move into these apartments (young professionals) most likely will not be working in CV and won't be taking the CAT to work.

Public Works has provided the following information: the crosswalks and pedestrian heads at this intersection have been in place for at least 20 years and met the requirements for accessibility at that time. The wheelchair ramps at this intersection have not changed from the pre-construction layout. The city continues to improve signalized intersections to provide more accessibility with this intersection being no exception. As stated previously the city is working with the contractor to provide improved pedestrian signals including audible pedestrian signals for the visually impaired. The contractors are going to upgrade the ramps on their respective corners as part of the development.

Thanks for looking into this. I hope this issue can be resolved and the solutions implemented at other intersections where high-density development will take place. As long as there are loans being made, these developments will continue to rise. Doesn't mean we have to like it, but we do have to deal with it in a way that doesn't compromise safety.

This issue has not been fixed...I would like to meet with someone to show them my concerns..Lets set up a time!!
