You didn't mention what neighborhood you live in, however, community signs are not maintained by the City. Have you checked with your civic league to see if they may be replacing/repairing it?

I am part of Cape Story by the Sea - but this is a "Virginia Beach Community" sign that are throughout the City. It is in the median on Shore at Calvert Street. It fell down and then it disappeared. No one in our civic league put it up. Thank you for reading this!
I believe there is one on Northampton Blvd after you enter Virginia Beach - the signs are all similar. I also think I have seen one on Great Neck Road heading towards Shore Drive. If I pass one in my travels in the next day or two, I will post that so the content is known. Thanks very much!
The missing sign is a "Bayfront Community" sign like they have on Northampton Blvd. at Pleasure House Road. My husband took a picture but I don't see how to attach to this message and send to you. Thanks very much.

Public Works staff reports they are still working on this, but installation may be delayed until December. They will have it replaced as quickly as possible.
Public Works staff reports the sign is being fabricated this week. It is a custom-made sign which has taken a little longer than other signs. The sign should be installed by the end of next week. The issue is not having someone to install the sign, but having it made. I hope this information is helpful.
I just received an update from staff. The sign took longer to fabricate than expected. The installation date has changed slightly. It is now scheduled for January 23, 2014.
That is unbelievable. While I appreciate your response and attention to this, it's unbelievable anything could take that long to fix. Who in the world is making this sign? Truly way too slow! Get another company to make it!
I have heard stories that the boy scouts make signs and other things from wood that they mill from fallen trees from city property and right of ways. I bet it helps with some kind of merit badge and community service project. Perhaps this could help until the replacement sign can be obtained. The city has so much to do and you can't always count on outside vendors to deliver services or products on time. There are many things that can affect the process.
Well, miracle of all miracles, a NEW sign has been installed in the last week! Many thanks for getting this done! Thanks, Tasha, for the great ideas! God bless those Boy Scouts!
The local troop in Hampton helped to rebuild one of the recreation areas using wood milled from trees that were cut down. It is a common practice in alot of areas. They also do alot of the landscape work that the lesser departments just can't keep up with. They are a great resource.
