Boat trailer blocking sidewalk.
Yes it is illegal to park blocking the sidewalk.
Someone reported a boat trailer blocking a sidewalk across the street at 37 Howard Street earlier today. Here is the advice we gave then:
The Burlington Police Parking unit handles vehicles/boats/trailers blocking sidewalks. They work weekends and can be reached by contacting the Burlington Police at 658-2700. The parking enforcement officer would ticket the trailer and ask the owner to move it if blocks the sidewalk.
If this is a neighbor, someone could also ask the owner to move the boat trailer.
Thanks, will do. My first time using SeeClickFix on my phone, and I didn't see the previous report because the default is to only display Open reports.
Thanks for using SeeClickFix and including the photo. It makes a clear case for the blocked sidewalk.
I suspect it was the same location as the other report even though the other one said 37 Howard. We will leave both issues open until we get an update from someone or the police that the sidewalk is clear. We will check Monday if it is not resolved sooner.
Yes, it is the same trailer / incursion. The previous reporter probably didn't correct the location info. I have called BPD and reported the incident, which they said that they would refer to parking enforcement. The odd thing is that there seems to be plenty of room to pull the boat & trailer completely onto the driveway and off the sidewalk, but my guess is that it is protruding because it was easier to unhitch the trailer with the truck down at street level. There is a great deal of pedestrian traffic at this location this weekend because of the Art Hop.
We contacted BPD parking about this report this morning. We are awaiting an update about any action they took over the weekend.
The trailer is still there!
The boat has been moved off the sidewalk.
