There is a simple solution to this problem and its called enforcement. Sadly it hasnt happened in the past and dont expect it in the future.

Absolutley!! This is dangerous and not to mention annoying when trying to turn right onto 15th. Just as annoying are the idiots who come out of Tim Horton's and try to cross 3 lanes of traffic on 2nd ave, so they can get into the left hand turning lane. Why not just turn right and go around the block.

Move the drive-thru to the lot just east of the store. It should be able to handle more cars than the present set-up. The other solution is for people to get out of their cars and go inside. Between 8:15 and 8:45 there is almost no one lining up in the store.

I second this one.... also with the one by walmart. I hate when you try to go to any of the shops, marks work wearhouse etc, and you are stuck sitting there because of the huge line up at the drive through there. I'm not sure what it is with tim hortons having TERRIBLE drive throughs, and no room for them

I agree....the sign is HUGE and clearly states to not use 2nd ave to go through the drive thru....yet people REPEATED do it...and then those of us who follow the rules and drive through the parking lot to get into the drive-thru having people coming in from 2nd ave "butting" in front of us. I saw it happen a few times and fists almost started to fly. I think they should close the entrance into Tim Horton's from 2nd ave. That would stop it....even better, that drive thru is so combersome they should should move the whole store some place else....its one of PA's busiest intersections and then add these idiots who can't read or follow the rules. I go to Cornerstone Tim's.... may have longer lines, but at least you're not parked on a major road!

I agree with this concern. Is it really up to the customers who feel there is only on line other than going inside. Did you ever come in the other way when there is a big line up? It is almost impossible to merge in. I believe it is the responsibility of the Tim Hortons franchise to do something about this. A business needs to be accountable for interfering with the general publics safety. Options are to redesign that area wth cement island so traffic can not enter from 2nd Ave. but only exit, or to close the enterance/exit completely. Good and valued topic. The publics safety must come first rather than the owners greed for more profit and ignoring the safety of the citizens of prince albert.

This intersection is by far the busiest in P.A, something needs to be done, there is an empty lot next to the Tim's on 2nd, that could be used as a drive through and we also need to start thinking about double turning lanes at this intersection, especially when you are turning left to go south on 2nd ave w. City Planners should be re-thinking this intersection !!

So instead of of complaining about it, why not express your concern and ask for ideas about some sollutions....

Its not up to the taxpayers or the owner to pay for any sort of redesign or changes. The city agreed to what was built. Its a police issue and the police should deal with it.

If you go to Timmies in Saskatoon, the first thing you notice is the speed they throughput vehicles. PA Timmies is very slow.

If 20 tractors or 18 wheelers parked across Marquis road waiting to get into Good Year Tire I bet something would be fixed,TICKETS!!! Why should Tims be different!!

YES, because the police have nothing better to do then to watch if people are lining up properly at the tim hortons drive thru. I agree that something needs to be done, but if the people lining up would use a little common sense, this wouldn't be a issue....

Makes one wonder. The amount of abuse the police have taken in this forum the past couple of weeks, why the chief doesnt step up and address the obvious public disatisfaction? Could it be he has no answers?

Perhaps bylaw could drive their V-8 hemi charger up to the drive thru and hand out some tickets for obstructing traffic, rather than giving ppl tickets in crescent heights for parking in front of their homes for more than 24 hours? Just a thought...

there is a law forbidding stopping there the problem is that nobody enforces it.the law i am referring to is also in affect on all highways and such it is the law against obstructing traffic,and unsafe stopping.

hey its pretty obvious that the ppl in these cars cannot read the sign that says 'do not park on 2nd Ave.' and yes the city agreed to the design...well obviously the city planners did not plan very well. and yes the police should step up to the plate and deal with the issue...give these ppl tickets who clearly disregard the sign that is posted. and where are the police when u need them? at the timmies in cornerstone where else?

When the police are there getting their coffee why not hand out a few tickets. I'm sure like everyone else they see whats going on there on the street. I was coming down 2nd and trying to turn right on 15th and I couldn't because there was someone parked on the street. I just honked at him till he moved outta the way. I wouldn't do that again but I had an appointment to go to.

This is an ongoing problem...Are there any OFFICIAL plans to fix this problem?

BTW...I find it ironic that the location of this complaint is right at the *Ahem* "Strictly Enforced" intersection.

Our strictly enforced intersections are about as valid as the PA is a violence free city signs, in other words, a huge joke.

Yeah, this is getting bad with the roll up the rim promotion on again. I have to drive this way to work every morning and always end up with an aggressive driver behind me turning right and the line up in the turning lane. You try to go around them and the aggressive guy behind you tries to cut right at 60 KM/H.............Please fix this.

Maybe ppl should try their Timmies without the half cup of cream they put in it, once i found out how bad the coffee really tasted i was done with them.

I think that maybe instead of gawking at the people lined up for their coffee you should instead focus on the safe operation of your motor vehicle

The problem is that the stars at City Hall *approved* this drive-thru, as implemented.

The only way to fix it now would be for the city to block the 2nd Avenue access to the parking lot, which would likely result in a law suit for the city.

Only other thing I can think of is for the city to pay for 'improvements' to the business' parking lot and place a meridian there that prevents access to the drive-thru from 2nd Ave...

Some traffic enforcement at our "Strictly Enforced" intersection might be in order, as well.

When one of the vehicles lined up for the drive-thru, blocking traffic, is the PAPD Supervisor SUV, you know there's a problem and you know that absolutely nothing will be done about it. When the police don't obey the rules, why should the rest of us?

This is no different than the PAPD car in the firelane at SHMall while in Starbucks and the police car by the A&W parked in the handicapped stall. Why does this surprise anyone. There is no supervision at PAPD

But you'd think the police would at least be aware of how they're perceived in the community and not want to appear to be huge jackasses who can do whatever they want simply because they are the police?

The problem here is that the sign was posted by the business - not by the city. I spoke to the police about it. They are not allowed to ticket or enforce the signs. The drivers are not blocking traffic as bad as they would be if there was just one lane plus the turning lane. The sign worked well when it first went up. However, like kids, no enforcement means no respecting the sign. Sigh ....

Is it really that much of a problem? I have been in that line on the street and passed by that line on my way to work and have not found it to be that big of a deal. When the ligtht turns green, the traffic gets moving and there is then plenty of time to get into the right lane and make a right handed turn.

I don't get how it really becomes an accident issue, unless you are driving super impatiently and or not noticing the vehicles parked in the line up.

If you live or have lived in a city larger than PA you would realize that streets sometimes are busy places and right handed turns will and get lined up much farther than what is being dealt with in this case.

Also, how early do some people get into that right handed lane to make that turn when there is no traffic there? My guess would be not before that Tim Hortons turn off.

PA is growing and therefore there is a bit more traffic as well. Get up 5 minutes earlier and pracitce some patience.

Whoa. Do something about the slackers if you want. Get license plate numbers with description of vehicle. Report the info to local police services, if they don't help then tell the service commission and the premier's office. Get the slackers. Or is it okay to violate?

I understand that it is a bit inconvenient when there is a lot of cars on 2nd Ave waiting for the drive thru, but it really isn't that hard to manage your way around it. There are so many things going on in this city at any given time it really isn't a surprise that the police don't worry about this. If it came down to writing tickets at Tim's or responding to an assult or something like that, I think we could all agree where the attention needs to go.
Maybe we all need to calm down a bit, and worry about the things that are really important or dangereous, and start cutting each other a little bit of slack, instead of critisizing and complaining all the time!

I drive this way to work every morning bon, and it is so sketchy to go through this intersection on some days. You have:

- people coming out of Shell on 16ST not knowing if they can even turn right(now they have to CUT lanes to get past the line up to get around to turn right which causes enough problems

-people doing U turns on 2nd to get into the line up

-cab drivers going 70

-people crossing the street - this is a cross walk and you must yield at all times if you are turning right

-cars trying to get out of the Tim's parking lot

-cars trying to get in to the Tim's parking lot

It's just bogus. No other place in the city is it like this. There needs to be a better solution. I have already decided to go the long way to work every day.

Anybody who doesnt think this is a big deal is delusional and obviously cares more about their morning coffee than safety. As someone who has hauled heavy equipment and wide loads through town, this is a major issue! When I'm coming down 2nd avenue with an 18 foot wide combine and have to hammer on the brakes and try to get around some idiot waiting for a double double I feel like jumping out and smashing all the windows out of their car. Something needs to be done before someone gets killed in an accident there.

A lot of drivers in PA are rude and selfcentred and people who drive anything bigger than a pickup have to take the responsibility of not killing them. They don't seem to understand that all vehicles of all sizes have a right to use public roads, just look at how they cut you off or try to sneak past you when you need to make a wide turn. Believe it or not it's worse for the smallest vehicles, the bikes, who get absolutely no respect at all. At least we have the size and know we won’t be the ones riding in the ambulance when one of them little cars bounces off our bumper or slides beneith our wheels.
Were are the police? If they start to enforce some of the basic laws of the road then we all would be safer. Oh I forgot they are waiting for their coffee in that line up you just had to squeak by…
