Description

Over the summer, noise from neighborhood bars and late night pizzerias has become a serious issue again. The Elm Bar (372 Elm St.) and Box 63 (338 Elm St.) both have zoning restrictions limiting alcohol consumption on their patios until 11 pm, which they regularly violate, especially on weekends when they are busiest. Box 63 has also been violating their zoning restriction prohibiting them from playing music on their patio. (In addition, their late night Yale crowd is suspiciously young - the bar has been cited previously for serving to minors.)

In addition, the after hour crowds gathering at the neighborhood pizzerias have been getting larger and more rambunctious. Due to previous shootings, a police officer was posted in the neighborhood on weekends. This seems to have recently changed, which explains the increasing issues with noise, etc.

Could the police department address this by continuing to post an officer in the neighborhood and make sure that the neighborhood bars are following zoning and other restrictions? Please post a comment to let us know that these issues are being addressed.
