Why is the DPW closing out problems that are not with in their scope of responsibility? http://seeclickfix.com/nantucket The things that have been reported for the Board Of Health and the DPW is closing them with providing a viable resolution the problem other that saying given to the BOH. I thought that this was a site we can report community issues so the town can report back to us (The Community) what the fix is. Passing to the other departments is not a fix. We need a resolution to the problem. Is the town hiding something?
This from the town WEB site:
In April of 2013, the Town of Nantucket implemented SeeClickFix, a digital civic engagement application that concerned residents can use to immediately report visable issues of concern such as illegal dumping, potholes, and street lamps that are out. Citizens can have the confidence that each report will be sent directly to the attention of the appropriate Town department for responsible handling. Through the app's GPS map functionality, municipal departments and citizens can pinpoint the exact location of the reported problem and view the progress of its resolution.
WHERE IS THE PROGRESS ON THE ISSUES THAT DPW HAS TAKEN TO CLOSE THAT ARE NOT THEIR RESPONIBILITY?
Thank you for asking this question because I think that it is important for citizens to know how this is handled on the Town side. All SeeClickFix reports come directly to the DPW only. We have the sole repsonsibility to acknowledge and close issues. When we hear from the other department that the issue being addressed or has been addressed we close the issue.
THERE YOU GO AGAIN CLOSING AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ANSWERED/CLOSED BY THE TOWN ADMINISTRATION NOT THE DPW!!!!!!
REFERING ISSUES TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS THEN HAVING THE DWP CLOSING THE ISSUE IS NOT A RESOLUTION TO THE ISSUE. WE SHOULD SEE WHAT PROGRESS IS BEING DONE ON THE ISSUE AS DISCUSSED ON THE TOWN WEB PAGE!
Hi there TonyACK, I work in the IT Dept here and helped setup and implement SeeClickFix for Nantucket. This platform has been set up to help the DPW organize and fix important issues while also giving the community a gateway to track the progress of these issues. It also is great tool for creating dialogue between our community and its government.
At the moment only the DPW is using the SeeClickFix service for issues that they can fix, such as potholes, signage, damaged lights, dead animals, sidewalks, etc. In the future we would like to bring on other departments to be involved in the platform. Unfortunatley, the DPW does not have the resources to monitor the progress of reports that would be "fixed" by other departments, and the other departments aren't trained on SeeClickFix. So at the moment, the DPW is passing on the information to the relevant department and then "closing" the issue because that is as far as they can go with it.
We are excited to grow this program in the future and involve more reporting in different areas. You can ReOpen any issue you like if you feel that it has not been fixed, but please know that certain issues have only been "closed" because they are outside of the scope of the DPW. We, and I, appreciate your input and the questions that you have raised! Feel free to contact me to discuss further if you like at email@example.com. I have added copy to the website to further explain our current policy. Thank you for your comments.
Sorry, this issue does not have any images or videos.
