The City of Miami and its toadies at the BID are now calling shots at the Grove's King Mango Strut parade (see the current Crespogram).
The Old Strut is dead and the new one does not allow anyone to make fun of the BID or anyone in City government. The city pays for most of the parade now (through the BID's annual $15,000 parade grants) and they aren't about to allow themselves to be made fun of.
The Strut once was the parade that told city Hall "Up yours!". Now City Hall tells them "Here's your money! (And here's what you can and can not do!)".
Long live the King (No, he wasn't the fake one in last week's Strut).
