Description
Turning left from Broad to Thurbers, the green light behaves like a green turn arrow because oncoming traffic still have a red. But, someone unfamiliar with the intersection wouldn't know this. This creates confusion, angry drivers stuck behind people waiting for oncoming traffic, and most dangerously, people who automatically turn left when they reach the intersection, assuming that oncoming traffic still has a red. I have seen several near hits here.
Please make the traffic light reflect the actual function of the intersection.

When the above intersection was installed in 1982 this was a permissive left hand turn. Unfortunately at this time we are not able to change the existing controller do to the size of the traffic cabinet and the age of the back panel to accommodate the size of a new back panel in addition the placement of the traffic signals on the mast arm will have to be relocated to accommodate the bi-modal arrow needed. All of intersections Broad Street are ready for and upgrade in 2011. This issue will be resolved at that time.
