Two months after this original request was made, the graffiti problem on this vacant lot has bled into our neighborhood. The "secondary" graffiti is being cleaned up by Dept. Public Works where it appears on PUBLIC property. When is CODE ENFORCEMENT going to get around to the MAIN problem which is on PRIVATE property?? Was told a couple of years ago that this lot was going to be developed for housing. Going to call Code Enforce. (510) 238-3381) on Monday and see what they say. Then going to call the office of City Council member that represents our area and report what I'm told.
There's a lot of "explanation" on a link about how the loss of Redevelopment money prompted decentralization of services formerly performed by the City into 4 different departments. The Dept. of Planning, Building & Neighborhood Preservation link describes its function and range of responsibilities. Code Enforcement is on of them. AND SHOULDN"T BE THE LEAST NOR LAST OF THEM.

An EXACT address is very necessary (or the NEAREST address to the location). The Code employee searched her data base for what might be my complaint but couldn't find anything. But I now have a Code Dept. report #. Because the graffiti is on PRIVATE property, an Inspector must go to the property to initiate a report and notify the property owner. Then the property owner
has 3 weeks to take care of the problem. So, the clock is ticking...

This issue tag was "renewed" on Jan 24. The piles of trash have not been removed and the graffiti
has EXPLODED, covering every wall space. The clean-up was NOT completed by the property owner by the Jan. 3 deadline, so once again the inspector will re-visit the location and re-issue a notice.
Getting impatient again, but trying to remain hopeful.
