Description

This pertains to the Exit 50 entrance ramp onto I-95 Southbound. Before the reconfiguration, the entrance ramp lane merged with the rightmost lane on I-95. But now, the entrance ramp lane doesn't merge with the rightmost lane anymore, it continues as its own independent lane.

This new lane continues for a very short distance before it ends abruptly as the whole highway starts to curve to the right. This new lane ends at the point where the highway starts to curve.

I almost got sandwiched between a truck and the side of the bridge because I wasn't expecting my lane to just end abruptly like that. I had to stomp on my brake and pray I had enough distance for the truck to pass me, so I can get into its lane before mine finished ending.

There's no sign indicating that the lane ends. Since the highway curves when the lane ends, its hard to see and anticipate that the lane ends. And its especially jarring since the lane used to simply merge with the right hand I-95 lane, instead of ending into it.

Is this a mistake? I say that because I went onto the i95newhaven.com website and watched the video of the entrance ramp. The video has the entrance ramp merging onto the rightmost I-95 lane post reconfiguration, instead of what it does now.
