Description
OK, here we go. I live rural of prince albert by.. oh, 10 minutes. Today at least 15 sleds drove by my house, On my neighbors POSTED property. My boyfriend and brother took a drive to see where they went, and sure enough, On our slough. Our property is posted ALL around with no hunting/tresspassing signs. Another neighbor was also complaining about these guys driving around on their posted land. Just because there is no fence or a section of a fence is down DOES NOT IN ANY WAY mean you can still go on it without permission, especially if it is posted! For anyone who goes out skidoo-ing out of town, If I see you on ANY of my neighbors posted property without permission, I will call the RCMP. There are people out here with livestock, If you scare them they could slip on ice, break a leg, neck, Trample babies, Or if pregnant cause them to miscarry. Some of these people depend on their livestock to get by. HAVE SOME RESPECT! We dont come into town and burn donuts and run all over on your lawn, What makes you think you can go on our property that way!!!

Here's to "Annoyed"
1st of all -- cattle are NOT scared of skidoos because skiodoos are NOT close enough unless the skidoo is IN the pasture.
2nd of all I LIVE ON AN ACREAGE and I could care less if people are out enjoying themselves on there skidoos - not hurting ANYTHING in my opinion unless they are running over trees.
and to ZEKE -- hey - I live on an acreage and I actually don't own a sled and I think it's great people are still out having some fun I think you guys all need a little more happiness in your lives - go to your dealership today!

POSTED OR NOT, YOU DO NOT OWN THAT LAND. God, you snowmobilers on here are dense.
There is A LAW AGAINST IT. YOU WILL BE CHARGED! The good thing is snowmobiles have license plates making it easier to track them.
Stay on your trails that is what they are for.

"you have NO IDEA! cattle will sit by a fence, which is along a DITCH! and YES cattle CAN be scared of skidoos"
This quote shows you sir are the one that has no idea. You just said they will sit by a fence right by the ditch. Well This same ditch is where you are now wanting us to ride. So guess what your cattle according to you will still be scared when we ride by. Now whats your plan ban sleds from ditches because they may make noise near a fence? I live in the city close enough to the edge to hear the sleds run. I LOVE THE SOUND OF A SLED. Sounds to me like being atthe lake.

Mac I think you have had the best statement here. It is creating huge economy the sleds service and fuel alone. As was said earlier. If I am sledding around and from the city I have no idea who owns what land and whoever said just go to the nearest house and ask I don't even know where the houses are.
Teresa Worobetz You have had some issues that are so not related to the average sledder. People cutting fences is wrong period. Break and enteres happen everywhere they suck but that is a crime. The poaching again 100% wrong. in the city we get cars spinning donughts on the streets all the time you deal with it how you have to. We have other issues as well. If you know who the people are that are doing this go talk to them. Sometimes it just takes simple commuunication to end the issue.

Too bad for you if you can't find a house to go ask. Go to the RM office and look at a map of who owns the land you want to play on. It's YOUR responsibility, you don't own the place because you're on a sled.
Sleds are annoying. Like a HIGH REVVING RICED OUT HONDA!!!!
Like I said, how would you like it if I took the cans off my bike and road up and down your streets at 12 grand?!

I lived at the lake when I was younger and would have snowmobiles ripping past my place at 2 am.
And of course I would tell them to get lost and get their own land to play on. I wouldn't buy land to make it someone's playground! I grew up on a farm and I know that someone would have been out there with a shotgun if a bunch of snowmobilers were shredding our land!
It's not my issue, it's the LAW!
My bike is not loud, it has stock exhaust but it could be loud if I removed my cans, and if you like loud noises so much I should remove them and go rip up and down your streets!
I'm entitled to my opinion and my opinion is I hate the sound of snowmobiles.
As far as this discussion is concerned, it is THE LAW that you ask permission to ride on someone's land. SO TOO BAD FOR YOU if they tell you to Ehf OFF!
I live in town, but I sympathize with the people who have to put up with D-bags who think they own anything that has some snow on it!

Just my opinion though.

Ok "ANNOYED" here's a funny for ya -- I grew up on a farm and my family still has 250 head of purebred Semitol cattle -- not some skittish cows like you obviously have -- GET OVER IT -- YOU CAN'T STOP PEOPLE FROM SKI-DOOING!!
Just to point out - I DO NOT believe that ski-dooers should be on private (POSTED) land but sometimes people go alittle too far with there postings and don't even want people in the ditches which is absurd!
As for the cut fences and people poaching on your land -- that is something TOTALLY illegal and should be reported.
Merry Christmas everyone and have some fun would ya -- life is TOO SHORT!

I believe if the land is not posted, it is still your responsibility to gain permission from the owner of the land. Stay on your trails, that is that.
Go have fun on your trails, that is what they are for

Other places were we don't care are left un posted and if someone wishes to use the land for kicks and giggles on a sled they are welcome to it. We even have some trails through the bush that we make every year with our own sleds so that the kids can come out and enjoy them. Since the trails tie in with trails on public land we feel if others want to use them it’s fine cause it don't bother us. We do have signs were there trails end in our yard that say "Private Property No Trespassing and that seems to work most of the time. The odd occasion someone misses the signs and comes into the yard and so far every time they were apologetic and quite embarrassed to have made the mistake except for one time when a guy needed to use the phone cause another sled was broken down and people needed a ride, no biggy we were glad to help and even went out and towed the disabled sled back so it would not be left on a trail.
The point is that people who drive sleds are for the most part responsible and don’t want to cause anyone else any grief. The few bad apples can be dealt with but they are a very small minority. So lets concentrate on finding solutions to those few and not go piling the rest of them into that same barrel.
And Sledders be responsible, obey signs and respect private property so that we don’t have landowners up in arms about these things. The next generation deserves the same privileges of sledding that our generation has enjoyed so lets not screw it up for them.
