Description
Some very loud - amplified - aggressive sounding yelling punctuated by occasional music. Quite loud in apt at 360 state even with all windows shut. Glad to see/hear events going on in new haven and hope they continue/increase. But would it be possible to bring the volume/yelling down a bit? I can only imagine that it must be at ear splitting volume wherever this event is taking place...

i heard today from a resident in ward 6 about a patio at club xhibit on center street playing excessively loud music. my hunch is this is coming from the same place.
if you'd like, i'm working with a neighbor on crown street, state street, and orange street on (hopefully) updating the language in the city's noise ordinances to help for better and more consistent enforcement.
email me at doug@dougward7.com if you'd like to help.
downtowners expect a slight elevation in noise, and that is reflected in noise ordinances. however, what we have yet to master in the downtown is how to balance the recent (15 year) influx of 13,000 residents with a vibrant nightlife. i'm confident that in using best practices from elsewhere, the town green, city hall, police, businesses, and residents can and will figure out how to truly make it all happen here pleasantly.

we will be advocating for adopting the national standards for motorcycle EPA emissions in the upcoming legislative session in hartford.
Tired of people thinking they are in the suburbs (Guest)
This hasn't been an issue for the last 30 years until 360 State was built.
hmmmmm coincidence or a bunch of whiners- - i have lived with loud motorcycles for 30 years (which the police can't do anything about) dirt bikes all weekend long for 30 years (finally some enforcement as of late) loud music from the green and every event downtown when I lived there. Loud boom boxes in cars- loud mufflers from the ghetto cars the last 10 years. Clubs playing loud music until 2am shall i go on- why should we have to change all the rules because one building decided "its too loud"
Next they'll be complaining about the fire engine sirens which I lived with for the 5 years I was on Howe street- all night long every night. Nighttime construction(also lived with for years- Its called aCity- you can't control other people- NHPD can't enforce traffic laws what makes you think they will do anything about noise.

Thanks!
I asked the district commander today to request from NHPD and coordinating agencies (health department, fire department, liquor control division at the state) to schedule a taskforce one weekend evening coming up to help set the tone for the Fall. We need regular enforcement, increased education of our patrons and business owners, and perhaps some tweaks to our engineering (requiring double pane glass perhaps - like how 116 Crown Condos were required) in order to help people sleep downtown.
Additionally, I'm working on getting the ViewPermit system to notify the alders of affected wards via email of night time construction work that will impact sleep as well. Hopefully should have something by the beginning of the year on that.
