Description
This road has also been fixed and filled so many times it is literally nothing but a big hole now. There are so many problems I have to drive on the opposite side of the road to avoid all of the holes, and now they are starting on that side too. Please no more filling. Tear it up and start over.

Due to the significant decline in road funding in recent years, plus the dramatic increases in all the costs associated with maintaining roads, the Road Commission simply does not have enough money to resurface all the roads that need resurfacing. Unfortunately, this situation is going to get worse. Revenues continue to fall and there is little hope that the state Legislature, which controls road funding, will increase the funding any time soon. Sadly, expect many more roads to greatly deteriorate in the next coule of years. In fact, take a look at the roads today. This is the best shape they are likely to be in for quite some time. This situation is just as frustrating for us as it is for you.

This "road" is TERRIBLE. I ruined a tire on it 2 years ago. About a month ago my son ruined the tire and wheel on his truck. The "road" is NOT repairable. Scrape it down and replace it. I'd even settle for a dirt road there.
It is right by Schoolcraft Elementary school. Some child is going to get hurt while on the bus or by a car avoiding the holes. This will be far more dangerous and expensve than fixing the road.
I pay a LOT of taxes, and i ALWAYS vote. The Waterford & Oakland incumbents will not get MY vote, and the votes of others in the area, if this is not fixed before the next election!!

While I appreciate that this latest patch job has been done, and so far holding up better than previous ones, this road is FAR from fixed. Where exactly are the tax dollars we pay going?
Thank you to whoever patched the road, but it needs a permanent fix, not a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

The road was patched by the Road Commission for Oakland County.
Please see previous post concerning the road. Also, please understand that the Road Commission does not receive any of your property taxes (we're not part of Oakland County general governmetn). We are funded primarily through the state-collected gas tax and vehicle registration fees. Revenues from both these sources have been declining for five years now, after having been flat for nearly 10 years before that. Additionally, this is occuring against the backdrop of a state that has underfunded its roads for decades. According to US Census Bureau data, Michigan has been among the bottom 10 states in the nation in per capita state and local road funding for nearly 50 years. That means that we have all been paying less to maintain our roads than the residents of most other states. Ultimately, you get what you pay for, and in our case, that means inferior roads.

More scare money was spent on this road. It was a minor improvement, but NOT a fix.
Probably only 1/2 of the needed asphalt was used.
Let us know in advance, and I'm sure a group of neighbors would be willing to lend a hand to reduce the cost!
