8/9/2013 – Thank you so much for sharing your very important concern with the City of Richmond government. This situation has been formally reported to Richmond Alley Repair Mgmt Team (20020888244) so that proper inspection and handling can take place accordingly. Because of time that may be involved with this request, updates or follow up can be conducted by dialing the Richmond Customer Care Center at 804-646-7000
This is an ongoing problem over the past three decades (at least). The alley behind the even side of Grove was chip-sealed about 10-15 years ago and held up well until recent years. Multiple repairs to numerous potholes using cold patch have not lasted very long and seem to be contributing to more rapid deterioration of this stretch, and increased traffic along all of the alleys in this block, associated with the Temple Beth-El buildings and parking lot, seem to be causing potholes to develop quickly, even after DPW has dressed the non-paved sections with a motor grader. I would welcome the opportunity to meet with Mr. Baliles and DPW in the hopes of identifying the most cost-effective long-term solution. Robert Creecy @ 3316 Grove Ave
This affects the Hanover side of the alley too. My husband reported it months ago on this system and no action has been taken. I submitted another request today, and would be very pleased to see the city take action.
12/4/2013 - Service Review: Currently still under review by the City of Richmond government – this team has had problems with equipment breakage with regards to motor graders that break and need repair and may have broken again and back in shop. Also members of the Alley team are engaged in Leaf removal services right now. Regardless, please know that the City of Richmond is endeared to addressing your alley repair needs as soon as possible and this case file is still under review and being continually monitored for servicing
We appreciate your communication that helps us in “Building The Best Richmond” together – rtt
1. The City will acknowledge the complaint (done).
2. Then another City person will state that their equipment to fix the alley is being repaired (done).
3. Next the City will repost my comment with my personal email address (not sure why but they don't have anything better to do).
4. Finally, the City will close this request (they've done that with several other alley repair requests) hoping you don't notice.
5. Then the cycle begins again.
6. Do-loop, rinse and repeat. Good luck!
Mgmt team notes that alley repairs were completed in March of 2014 at this location. This request has been investigated and completed(CRS# 20020888244).
