This is a huge problem all over the neighborhood -- on North King Charles, Rumson, Marlborough, Crabtree etc. I hate to speculate, but I'm starting to wonder if Duke Energy is letting these trees overgrow so they can collect on insurance or write off the losses when they inevitably destroy the lines.
Is there a way that this can be escalated beyond Duke Energy for someone in the city to look at this gross neglect and figure out what is going on here?
Here's the one I reported: seeclickfix.com/issues/661150
Last time the city just closed it after "advising" Duke Energy and they did nothing.
For safety reasons, City staff does not trim limbs that are close to power lines. We have forwarded this request to Duke Energy Progress. We would suggest that you contact them directly at 919-508-5400. If this is a neighborhood concern, it might be beneficial if several people called Duke Energy to make them aware of the need for tree trimming in your area.
