Everyone that sees these signs please take photos and post them here on see click fix. This is against state election laws. All campaigns were notified of this.

I have some down here on dwight, on the curb strip, in front of two Rennaissance Management houses. They came down last week, but went up again the other days...

Funny, I had the opposite problem. I put a Harp sign up in my yard and someone took it. A few days latter I found it crumpled in the bushes near my house. Take all the pictures you want, but please don't take signs, even if you think they are misplaced. It really felt like a violation of my right to free speech.

Populista it is illegal and the city has to take them if they are on the curb and your candidate gets to pay a $100 fine for each of them! Remember even if you care for the curb strip it is city property and lawn signs are not allowed on them by law...if all the candidates popped up signs next to hers on city property can you imagine how bad things will look. The law is the law and every candidate need to follow it she is looking at thousands of dollars in fines right now. And if the photos are sent to hartford and with a formal complaint because the city is not enforcing them, those employees can lose there jobs.

You do not want to be the person that takes someone lively hood away right. But I had a sign stolen on year and I do understand how you feel. Keep it on your property and it should be fine.

My sign was on my property when it was stolen. If the city takes them down, that is one thing. But, I fear the vigilante sign brigade. In the last election, an aldermanic candidate was caught with tons of the opposition signs in his car. He claimed that he was just doing the public a favor by removing illegal signs. (How convenient for him right? ) I just hate to see people get excited about a candidate and then feel censored or silenced. If you think a sign is misplaced, then please just take pictures and let the city deal with it. Removing it yourself could be violating the civic engagement of others!!!

Please decorum! Follow procedure , her opponents need to get on this (and check her signatures on her "petition)

I agree with Dukes on this being a non-issue. It is much worse to have a campaign sign stolen. This type of nitpicking distracts from larger issues. I have attached a photo showing a misplaced Elicker sign as well. Although my sign has always been in my yard, it seems a bit silly to take issue with folks who place them across the sidewalk.

It is one thing for a sign or two here and there but when there are dozens it is an eye sore. And remember those signs are going to be up till novemeber. It is an issue dukes. The reason there is a law for this is because people get cared away and it looks nasty. Then the city has to pay an employee to take the signs down.. Populista I do agree with that fear. One year team JD took a persons signs down from every house right out of there yards and they were found in a dumpster. I respect the signs and I would not even remove one from the curb. But PW is suppose to.

Parks and DPW have removed the signs from the primary. If you notice any that we missed, or new ones for the general, please open as a new issue so we can respond (use "Public Space, Streets and Drains" for ones in the tree belt, and "Parks Issue" for ones in a park if you can). All signs removed are held at DPW or Parks headquarters for a period in case the campaigns want to pick them up.

As a general rule, city agencies do not remove signs the day before an election or election day (and since election days are on a Tuesday, that means we usually don't get them from the weekend before). Most campaigns put signs in the rights-of-way right before election day, and since it takes us more than one day to remove all the signs that get put out, we could not ensure we are being fair as we start to remove them. Between now and Nov 4th, however, let us know on SCF and we'll try to remove improperly placed signs.
