Description
For years, people have been parking on the 8100 block of Jeanes Street and the surrounding streets so that they don't have to pay $1 a day for parking in the train station parking lot. This causes homeowners to not be able to find parking infront of or even near their houses for that matter. We homeowners are forced to park our own vehicles 1 block sometimes even 2 blocks away. This problem is causing serious traffic jams as well as parking issues.

This issue is partly due to the Fox Chase rail line being out of service north of Rhawn Street. DVRPC data shows many riders from Abington and Lower Moreland driving to Fox Chase station because the Bethayres station is out of parking, and there is no on-street parking available to use.
As a rememdy, the Pennsylvania Transit Expansion Coalition is proposing an incremental restoration of service north of Fox Chase, to Welsh and Terwood Road in Lower Moreland. (2) stations would be reopened: Walnut Hill/Lorimer Park and Huntingdon Valley, which would alleviate conditions at Bethayres.
