This is totally inexcusable. The City of Oakland too often allows contractors in their employ to get away with shoddy workmanship and a year or two later, (after the warranty period has expired) we, the taxpayers, are liable for the repairs. The broken cable will obviously be fixed -- but what about the turnbuckles, if they are in fact rusting. Please don't settle for steel brushing and a coat of fresh paint.

It should still be under warranty! Please, folks, fix thoroughly! There is surely salt air and danger of corrosion.

So...after 60 days the "fix" appears to be duct tape wrapped around the defective cable. Seriously, isn't this job warranteed? I also see the locks people had put on the cables (like in Paris across the Seine) have been removed...sort of sad but I am guessing the cable isn't stong enough even to support small hanging locks. So...who approved this job? It looks like the cable itself isn't strong enough for the basic job.

SCF... this has been fixed, really fixed, no duct tape at all!
