Still no response from the City of Berkeley. I guess they'd prefer a lawsuit.

The City did a half-baked job on the sidewalk - just putting down a couple of spots of asphalt - instead of raising the concrete, chopping the roots back, and replacing the concrete. On the street, I hired workers to dig up the asphalt, chop back the roots, and replace the asphalt. It cost me a pretty penny, but at least the worst part of the problem is fixed. The sidewalk is stilla real hazard, virtually impossible to pass safely on a wheelchair, and very dangerous for someone using a cane or a walker. I guess the City would rather facea lawsuit.
