I have heard of trees being ripped on Houston and on another Soho spot and I saw a tree ripped on Mulberry Street. Someone should take note of the recurrence of this in the past four months!
How about signs to point out how one shows neighborhood pride + how it is destroyed by visitors...

No one has confessed no one has repaid us or replaced the tree . It is not resolved and I believe keeping the warning notice there shows a long string of such abuses when someone sees soho clickfox and it should stay up evident posted.

Sept 18, 2012 New tree doing fine, but I have seen several ripped in the neighborhood during the past year, including a huge branch off a tree outside the Bicycle Habitat on Lafayette Street, a block away. The only way to see a pattern over time is to leave these posts up so maybe some official will see the vandalism. Does this happen in YOUR neighborhood? Do you think these actions were taken by someone who LIVES here? Maybe the transients in Soho (shoppers, drivers to New Jersey, fair-goers, etc etc) need closer supervision in order to protect the property owners who have worked many years to make the neighborhood nice.....

9.12 Also, though our planter is full of flowers, colored leaf plants and ivy, surrounding the tree , people often leave their garbage in it: drinks, napkins, bottles, cigarettes, gum, popsicle sticks, refuse of all sorts. How would you like someone to trash your front yard like this? Why don't they just take their trash to the corner to drop in the city provided wastebaskets on either end of the street? This shows the nature of passers-by in Soho. Not self-respecting, not nice, not thoughtful, not taking care of others as they would like to be attended to.
