are you talking about the right turn lane going into upland square? or the right turn lane to turn south onto 100? or are you talking about the roadway that goes behind best buy? common sense would tell you, the roadway that goes behind it, is used for delivery purposes. the turn lanes going into and out of the shopping center are needed, i'm sure the police are aware of the issues, so don't be such a dumbass
@Amy, you mean the road that's blocked off just past Target? it won't open until probably they build the other shopping center, which could be another 2-3 years
I agree with the original complaint. I think they are talking about the right lane that in used to turn into the center if you are heading south or coming out of the center heading south on RT 100. many times people are sitting at the light and some fools feel the need to fly past everyone in that lane intended to go into the center, only to cut people off when the lane merges back into 2 lanes after the light. People are not using the lane as intended, and really, when they have 2 lanes turning right out of the center, why the heck do they need 3 that merge into 2? what is the point of that? Making the lane go all the way down to Shoemaker is not an option because of the apartment and condo complex that is off to the right of RT 100 going south. I used to live there, there's really no room to expand the road there. That would also affect the bridge. I know how to drive and have been doing so for many years, and I am not even 30 years old yet.
I did not know there was a "roadway" to go behind Best Buy. I know there are delivery areas, but I would never say that it was a roadway or think anyone was talking about this area. Why someone would even mention that here is beyond me.
I think you're Wrong, The lane is for SLOW moving trucks, for if the lane was not there, it would cause MAJOR back ups. The light changes too Quickly, that needs to change.
I don't even go to Giant anymore. Crossing over 100 is a joke. 4 to 5 cars if they are lucky get threw the light. Then you have to sit more than 4 minutes for the next signal. INTERSECTION AVOIDED WHENEVER POSSIBLE!!!
For the comment "I think you're wrong"... I don't see the need for the lane with the arrow to merge into the right hand lane south of that intersection. There are two lanes coming out of the shopping center. It makes it confusing for some drivers who pull into that lane thinking it is the "right" lane and they have to merge into the correct "right" lane, sometimes cutting people off. Coming upon the intersection, there is no need for that lane either. There is a FAR FAR right lane ( I believe going south there are 4 lanes), one for pulling to the center, one next to that which is used to merge into the "right" lane and then the right and left hand lanes.
So do you have a CDL? I am pretty sure no CDL driver is going to pull into that "merging" lane with the arrow just to pull back into the correct right lane after he gets through the light. CDL drivers try to not switch lanes, at least that is my boyfriend's policy. The less lane switching, the less potential for accidents and they can see what's in front of then, bot necessary what's behind them.
Or are you suggesting that people use this lane to blow by people in the "right" lane? That's the problem. People blow by, then find themselves merging right back into traffic and cutting people off because everyone is in SUCH a hurry these days. Oh, no, we have to wait in a line like normal people do... this needs to be fixed. Major backups with 2 lanes just like they have near Walmart? Haven't seen it there and I don't think we'll see it a mile up the road either...
Agreed. That light is slow and lets MAYBE 3 people pass east to west. Several new intersections in the area are like this. Most of the time I am not across the intersection and I see the light turning yellow when I'm first in line.
if you notice, the lanes coming out of the upland square shopping center have 4 lanes: 2 for turning left, 1 to go across ROute 100, and 2 for turning right. nothing needs to be fixed at this intersection, it's fine, you as a driver just need to pay better attention in the lane you are in. i've never once had an issue or a problem when turning right to go south on Route 100. there's no problem with the lights themselves. they are on a timer that coincides with the amount of traffic. it goes by how many cars pass through the intersection as to when the light will change...they actually have a number of cars that have to be counted before a light will change,it's part of the traffic patterns in the area, all the lights are like that.
Keep flying down the 3rd lane. I wont let you get passed and you will have no choice to hit guardrail or get back in line where you belong. Oh and if you hit me ,,,,,, GOOD. You will be buying me a new car , because you did NOT yield the right of way.
did it occur to you to just use the two lanes, and NOT worry about that needless 3rd lane? i do just that when i head southbound out of the shopping center, and down toward walmart. i don't even worry about that 3rd lane...i don't have a problem with this intersection. people who do, have way too much time on their hands. there are other things to be concerned with.
The right lane is obsoletely needed! Too many people distracted playing with their radios or hearingaids at the light doddle when the light turns green! I use the right lane (the one these slow people are supposed to be in) and typically have five or six car lengths between me and the car next behind me before I merge.
The only thing that really needs to be fixed at this intersection is the timing for the lights. If you are crossing route 100 to go either in or out of the shopping center you only have enough time to get 4-6 cars across. I'm surprised that there aren't more accidents here, especially the way people race across to beat the light.
it depends on what time of day you are at that intersection. if you notice during rush hour, the lights don't run as long on the state street side of the intersection, as there is twice as much traffic on route 100. during that time, they have to get more cars through the intersection, and less cars through on the state street side, as there is not as much traffic on that side. later in the day, sometimes the light on the state street side runs a little longer. you just have to pay attention, and not be in such a hurry to cross the intersection. there's NO reason to be in such a hurry to cross that intersection as it is. i travel through that intersection every day to go to work, and i see so many people running the red light at that intersection, simply because they are not paying attention. like the light says "no turn on red". the other day, i counted 3 people who did just that: turned right on red. i should write their license plates down, and hand them over to the police. maybe a nice ticket in the mail will deter them from doing it again
Hey Billy, are you from New Jersey? Are you too old to drive and question your driving abilities? Do you drive a mini van? Do you talk/text on your phone while driving North on RT100? Are you one of those people who think they can control the speed of world by doing 55mph in the "PASSING LANE?"
I'm sorry if you answered "YES" to any of these questions, but if you did, you would be one of the reasons people pass your slow "ace" when you're in these lanes. I throw out a big "Wake Up" to all who do answer yes and will plead for those who should get into the correct lane while driving. I have used this lane and will continue to do so. I try my best to be nice about passing people here but a lot of the people take off and do 80 mph then slow down to 45mph when they know people can no longer pass them. This is the real problem, write about that!

No police officer would or will write a summary offense ticket based on eye witness testimony (from one individual) alone.
They would need proof or a confession for a "no right on red". Heck even if he did you'd have to show up in court or it would be tossed.
