Description
Recently installed so-called "intelligent" traffic signals on 23 mile & Schoenherr are causing major traffic back-ups especially on 23 mile going eastbound. It's always busy here but since those lights have gone in traffic has been backed up almost to the freeway. The left turn lane north onto Schoenherr is terrible. I was under the impression these lights were supposed to "see" how much traffic there is & adjust the timing accordingly. So far all I can see is that traffic has gotten worse on this corner since they've been put in.

Monday Nov 1st 4:20 pm (sitting at light): Traffic going eastbound on 23 mile backed up to Evola Music. Traffic going westbound on 23 mile backed past Taco Bell/Arby's entrance. Prior to these lights being installed, I have never seen traffic on 23 backed up this far and I've lived in this area for 15 years.
Ironically Southbound Schoenherr had not one car at the light and northbound Schoenherr had usual amount for that time of day.
So everyone on 23 (both ways) backed up at red light while it's green for Schoenherr, which had no traffic going southbound & typical amount at that time of day going north.

They cannot keep putting out blanket statements of, 1) we don't have enough resources 2) the public will need to educate themselves 3) we are not able to provide replies for all postings on the SeeClickFix website.
Change is fine and the new lights will be great when they are fine tuned, but don't believe for a second that you have found the panacea of traffic control as it is now. Please for all involved, travel to all intersections with these new lights and survey for yourself. Do it at rush hour and down time. If you have already done this, send someone different out there and do it again!

Never have I had a problem turning left onto Schoenherr to go east. Now it is impossible. Our only hope to get out of our street is to jump into the center turn lane and creep over or floor it and rush in to eastbound Schoenherr. And sometimes that's impossible because the left turn lane to go north on Schoenherr is backed up. FIX IT!!!!

Road commission posts a reply stating that they're not able to post a reply? am i the only one that finds that highly ironic(and a bit sad)?
is this the same gov't reasoning that brought us these ill-timed lights?

Kathy B - There are way too many emails for us to review and respond and so many blogs and complaints that are repetitive, ill-conceived or just impossible to address. We attemped to reply to many of these postings in the past; however, it has become too time consuming to get to every posting. We have heard the same concerns from other Road Commissions as well.
If there is an issue that a resident feels is important enough for the Road Commission to investigate and reply on, then we don't believe it is too much to ask for the resident to contact us directly, especially when we provide an email address and phone number.
