For almost two decades there were No Parking signs on Wrobel Street in Eastwinds. This was changed two years ago and students park along this street, in front of mail boxes, fire hydrants and on the wrong side of the street, congregate during school hours, etc. No Parking signs need to be again posted. Tire tread marks clearly show kids speed off, without regard to neighborhood children.

The Clinton Twp Police Dept has been contacted and has been great in putting radar cars and speed radar trailers in the area. This fixes the problem for about a day or two, before the reckless driving begins again. I have seen other signs in the area where a turn is prohibited for certain hours, usually rush hours, to keep traffic off a particular street, ie; Hillcrest & Groesbeck in Clinton Twp before it was closed off. Is there any way the residents of Eastwinds can petition the MCRC to place a sign?

I also feel that the no parking signs should be posted on Wrobel Street. I live on that street and am truley tired of picking up all of the garbage that the students leave behind. Also, their are students who I would assume are skipping school ducking down in their cars when we leave for work which makes me nervous that someone might try to break in. Does anyone know why they removed those signs anyways???

I have heard various stories but have been told by the Macomb County Road Commission that based on a complaint a study was done two years ago and it was found that the no parking signs were not necessary. Obviously the survey/study was done when the cars were not parked there. The kids park off of school property for a reason and it is not because there are no parking spots in the school lot. They can skip class and be off the school's radar.

1) The Road Commission did conduct a traffic survey within the Eastwinds Subdivisions and reviewed the survey with the Michigan State Police. No Parking sign were not considered warranted; therefore, they were removed and will not be going back in.

2) The Road Commission cannot install turning prohibition signs to restrict the use of public roads by motorists.

The parking concern has been brought to the attention of the high school administrators multiple times. They have called the Clinton Twp Police Department to monitor the area, but they can't be there every day so the situation will never truly improve.

I don't agree with a no left turn sign coming into the sub as that is the time I am coming home from work and would then have to take a long, round about way to get home when I live closest to that entrance to the subdivision. However, a stop sign at the corner of McCarthy & Loranger would help slow the student drivers down when cutting through the sub. It would also help avoid a lot of other near collisions that I witness almost daily by all drivers.

A stop sign will do absolutely no ggod in slowing down the speeding kids. If they are not going to obey the speed limits, they are not going to obey a stop sign. The only way to keep the speeding kids from cutting through the sub is to install a no left turn sign, it worked at Hillcrest and Groesbeck, when the neighborhood was complaining that traffic was cutting through their sub to avoid the traffic light at Cass & Groesbeck. So the MCRC is wrong in saying that they can't install a sign to keep citizens off public roads. it's done all the time, MCRC.

So if they are not going to obey a speed limit sign or a stop sign why would they obey a no left turn sign. All of these signs are only enforceable if there is a police officer there to ticket and they cannot sit in our sub every day at 2:30. Also, a no left turn sign would also hinder the non-students trying to get home during those hours. It would just push the heavy traffic to Schultz Estates.

As I stated previously, a stop sign would not just help with the students but with everyone. I can't tell you how many times people assume that everyone traveling west on Loranger is going to turn north onto McCarthy...it's not always the case and there have been too many near misses. A stop sign would cause everyone to slow down and at least look before making the turn.

I think a mall should be ereccted there with a bunch of traffic lights. That would appease the situation.

RE: The situation with the High School students parking on Wrobel St - I have witnessed the school bus having a difficult time turning because there was literally a car (or two) parked in front of every single home near the bus stop. One of which was a resident who, luckily, was outside and was able to move their car to allow the bus to turn. Along with the school bus situation, it is difficult to attempt to drive when you have another car coming toward you. With so many cars parked on the street, there is no place to pull aside to let the other car through, and you sometimes have to back up to give the other the "right of way". This seems very dangerous, especially if an emergency vehicle has to try and navigate through all of these parked cars. Some mornings, it looks as crazy as when we have the subdivision garage sale!

Being a resident of Wrobel, I am 100% behind putting those "no parking signs" back, especially if they are for school hours/days only. I do get nervous leaving for work and I see teens sitting in cars outside of homes. Who knows if they are watching to see when the residents leave to burglarize a home?

There is definitely no shortage of parking spots in the High School lot... I think that most of these teens park on Wrobel because they are trying to avoid the cost of a parking permit (and some may also try to leave early without having to answer to the parking lot attendant).

How do we get these No Parking signs back?

That was pretty dumb, nobody.

Make the traffic signal at CVHS & 19 Mile Rd a blinking yellow for 19 Mile Rd traffic after school lets out and on weekends. It's ridiculous to sit at a red light on 19 Mile at the CVHS driveway when there's nobody exiting the school parking lot. This needs to be fixed immediately.
