if you have no stake in the issue why are you starting a flame war by commenting? the vehicle doesn't have a parking permit. it's illegal for it to be parked in this zone. end of story.
I agree. Those of us who actually pay to have a permit should not have our spaces taken up by people who do not. Granted, the permit costs very little. But the city does charge us property taxes on our vehicles based on a value 3x what the insurance companies say the vehicles are worth. The city also charges an arm and a leg for parking meters. If they are going to charge us for a parking permit to be able to park in our own neighborhoods, then they should also ticket and tow those who park there illegally. If you are in no way affected and have no stake in the situation, then simply stay out of the conversation. As far as the vehicle causing "enormous hardship": I think "hardship" is an exaggerated term here, but the fact is that the person has not paid to park there, and someone who has will possibly have to keep circling the neighborhood to find a spot. Parking spots in this neighborhood, at certain hours, are at a premium.
mostly disturbing is not the permit. it is a "no standing anytime" lot. the car should be towed, with or without permit. it is mostly a safety issue. period.
Parking in no standing zones is dangerous for other vehicles and and pedestrians, creating blind areas. Same problem outside the old Goodfellas/Bronx Burger. Chronic parking in the no standing zone, no ticketing.
As far as that is concerned, the same happens on both sides of Orange in front of Cafe Romeo all the time. What is especially annoying there is the fact that firefighters park their trucks on those corners to go into the cafe. Trying to cross Orange is hard enough since most people refuse to stop. Trying to cross it when a firetruck is blocking the view is even harder and more dangerous.
Excellent point about Cafe Romeo...I wish folks realized how much their convenient but illegal parking habit endangers others. Last spring an illegally parked car caused an accident at State/Bradley. Wish the City could ticket these illegally parked cars more. Ticketing would be both a good income generator and deterrent.
Since the Other category was selected for this issue, it was overlooked and will be closed due to its age. If this is a problem in the future, please post as a new issue. Thank you.
