So what was the outcome of the examination by traffic engineering?

Per the department, the issue is on their project list and has not been examined yet. There is no estimated time frame but will post information as it is received.

The traffic light at Academy and Eubank currently is timed with the lights on Eubank at Juan Tabo and at Layton. The timing seemed to get worse as a means to manage and discourage travel on Eubank during the recent construction on north of Academy Blvd. It did not require a traffic "study" to figure the need to manage traffic during that construction. The construction is now complete, and the city should not need a "study" to delay correcting the timing issue.

It would be nice if in the response they would say if any adjustments were made. My observation is that no adjustments were made. I frequent this intersection often at various times of the day and days of the week. One of the worst days is at various times on Sunday. There are many times when cars do not get through on the left turn from Eubank to Academy. The maximum that gets through without pushing the yellow/red light is 4. All the other lanes are empty long before the light changes. Since the completion of Eubank north of Academy the North bound lanes were doubled yet no adjustment for southbound left turn (single lane) were made. I have not observed any improvement since the 11/23/11 closure date.

I request will be made of the Traffic Division for detail on the case. Thank you.

Per the Traffic Engineering Division, The S-E green time will be increased slightly to allow more vehicles through this turn movement. A phone number is not provided in this 311 to contact the citizen and discuss the issue further. A specific time of day is necessary to observe and evaluate the 311 more accurately.
