Behind the Hamden Commercial business areas, especially the Stop and Shop complex of stores. Where trash containers are left open and the wind blows trash on to the trail.
On Sunday I went to the area I have targeted... someone had cleaned the area and filled 2 large bags of plastic from the area behind Stop & Shop, Conway et al... I spent another hour and filled another large bag with what remained... there is still more.
I'm posting to my orginal post in which I noted that there was trash along the Farmington Canal Trail... the winter snowfalls have made walking on the trail less so . So to answer See Click Fix... No it has not been resolved and it will be an on going situation. The real fix is for everyone to bend down and pick up and to become vocal to the business' whose plastic bags and paper trash end up on the Trail. When the weather breaks I'll post some photos and bring a bag of trash into the management of Home Depo etc etc
September 2011 Update.... some progress has been made! Still this needs to be an ongoing issue. Organizing 'clean ups' or attending the one's that do exist will bring more consciousness to trash and the respect for the environment.... specifically the Farmington Canal
You may be interested to know that there is a Canal clean-up scheduled for this weekend by students from SCSU for National Service Day. I believe they will be out there on Saturday. If you happen to see them, please give them a warm thank you as we certainly appreciate their contributions to keeping Hamden beautiful.
Update. I reported graffiti and a large section of fence that is leaning just behind the Maaco Paint your car business / Dixwell and Goodrich St. Area to the Hamden Town Hall.offered to volunteer my time, but no response and no action yet! ' The world is a dangerous place. But not because of those who wish to do harm to you. But those who look on and do nothing' the trail still has paper and plastic debris. .. I'm resigned to think it is ongoing and will need those who stop and bend down.
