I have noticed this too. I had reported a spike and board earlier which have been removed but this spike sticking up is a new one and certainly could do significant tire damage.
SeeClickFix is not the correct channel for general complaints. These are best directed at the department or facility in question. For more information on making a complaint to the City please see www.cityofgp.com/complaints. CN Rail would take care of this
This issue is not a "general complaint." It is a very specific complaint of spikes sticking out of a downtown road at a very specific location. If CN Rail is responsible for this problem, then the City needs to get on them to fix it instead of just throwing their hands up in the air.
before owning a vehicle we walked everywhere in GP and did notice this spike for several years and also wondered why the City was still allowing CN to use wooden spacers...now that we sometimes drive downtown we are very cautious when crossing the tracks and now that we have SCF, the City will hear from us more often I think
The tracks by Canfor are really bad. They have been bad for a few years now but this year it's gotten worse. We drive a large SUV and I'm afraid I'm going to blow a tire one of theses days. The road going south is by far the worst!! I have actually seen little vehicles bottom out.
It's not up to CN to use the wood, it's actually the city who's responsible for covering it up. They have to get CN to put in whatever until the city can afford a better material But with the rain and weather the city keeps putting it off to get covered with concrete. If anything the city and province should be held responsible for fixing things that are on "city property"!
Held responsible? A good friend of mine once tried to get the City to pay for damages a raised manhole cover caused to his front wheel -- City lawyers blew him out of the water in less than an hour. Maybe it's better now, maybe not.
