This work was started some time ago, why has it not been completed?

This was reported 6-weeks ago, and per the construction contract as advertised for this work, this should have been completed MONTHS ago. The light pole in the center of Laburnum that is supposed to be removed just west of the intersection that is supposed to be removed is a hazard to traffic.

There are four new traffic light pylons at all the corners and streetlight extensions on all of them, but no fixtures have been installed. City reps attended a Bellevue Civic Association meeting and told us the old wooden poles would be removed once the work was completed.

Yes - the contract documents for this work show the four new lights and two poles being removed. Do not close this issue until the work is completed.

10/21/2013 - Thanks so much for communication Odin'd Dad - did a follow through with Traffic and they noted all of this work should be done at this point and the traffic signals functioning. I shared the information that the old wooden poles are being reported as still there and that Mgmt Team noted they will look into the matter to double check the status for proper cleaning of the work site - rtt

Thank You RVACW...As I noted earlier...the two wooden poles are still there because the four new streetlights that are supposed to be mounted on the new signal masts have not been installed. The wooden poles will have to stay until the four missing fixtures are installed. Yes, the signal work has been completed, but the streetlights have not.

10/22/2013 - Thanks so much for you communication Odins Dad - on 10/21/2013 our DPW Traffic Mgmt team noted there portion of this work was finished out and at this point they noted DPU Street Light Mgmt Team will need to finish out changing the wooden poles to metal poles for street light fixtures. Will check with them to see about tentative scheduling for replaement - rtt

I believe the streetlights are still missing, and the two wooden light poles are still there.

I give up...this is useless. Oh well, at least I tried. If someone runs into the old wooden pole in the middle of Laburnum they will at least have solid grounds for a lawsuit. There is plenty of evidence here that the City was properly notified about the issue, and did nothing.

8/12/2014 - DPW Traffic put in new traffic poles up, Dominion has not wired the new poles for street lights just yet, this work is still in progress. The wooden pole is crooked but it is safe for right now until all tranfers can take place. DPU Street Lights team is aware of all needs for this location and this project should be finished out in the next several weeks.

It's great to hear you all are on this so quickly. Lets leave this open until the work is actually completed.

Lets get this done, numerous people have written in to get this contract completed and yet here it is well over a year since the work was supposedly completed and we are still waiting for the work to be finished.
Traffic engineering closes this and the street lights are still not up and operating, come on lets get this thing straightened out and completed.

This issue is now 18 months old....is there any plan to ever complete this work?

How can it be completed when you still have old wooden poles at the intersection?

There is another open ticket (Issue ID:1304836) in which the City says Dominion still needs to connect the 4 non-functioning streetlights that were installed as part of this signal, but were never wired. Then the 2 old poles will need to come down. Please coordinate the two tickets - but don't just say the project is complete and close it, because it's not.

Of Public Utilities and it has been determined that contractors did put in the poles but the street lights were not wired; a new City of Richmond/DPU engineer had to take over this project and at this point The City of Richmond/DPU is waiting for Virginia Power to wire. Going on 2 years now since this was originally reported as an issue. It would seem that someone has not been doing their job, in that this issue is still incomplete almost 2 years on. It makes no difference that a new engineer has taken over the project, it still is way overdue for completion and doesn't instill confidence with the citizens that a simple project like this cannot be completed in a timely fashion. Please provide weekly updates until completed.

ANOTHER MONTH HAS PASSED...SNOOZE...AND STILL, THIS NOW 2-YEAR OLD ISSUE IS NO CLOSER TO BEING RESOLVED.

Received an email from deputy director of DPU Mr. Scott, he informed me that a letter of Authorization was sent from Dominion to DPU to get the ball rolling on getting power to the new lights, he projected that it would be 2-3 weeks from May 20th to get the project completed.

We have communicated with Dominion Virginia Power and they have assured my department a crew will respond to your location Thursday 6/11/15 @ 0900 to provide power for the lights on Brook and Laburnum.

Just drove by this intersection and Dominion is out in force running the power to the new lights.

Woo Hoo looks like this project will finally get completed.
