In 2008 City Council approved the discontinuation of the City dandelion control program. This means that the City of Grande Prairie does not spray herbicides to control dandelions in neighbourhood parks, public utility lots or boulevards. Dandelion control is still performed on irrigated turf areas such as intensively used sports fields and Jubilee Park. Public opinion surveys continue to support Council’s decision to not use pesticides solely for improved aesthetics rather than to protect the health of the grass. Thank you for relaying your concern.
