Two main problems at the intersection:

1. Trucks and cars parked right across from Atwood in the intersection. No parking should be allowed there at *any* time, but particularly during rush hours. It leads to traffic back ups on Asylum (eastbound) when cars can't pass (on the right) those standing in the inside lane to turn onto Atwood.

2. The risk of accidents increases when cars leaving Atwood leftways cut in front of cars turning into Atwood from the west. The Asylum cars have the right of way. The Atwood cars are at a stop sign. Some roll out in front of approaching cars (like when I come up from the west with my turn signal activated), other times, Asylum cars stop short and wave them out, which confuses right-of-way for everyone involved.

I agree the intersection is problematic, because I live down the street from there and go through every day. Yes, it gets backed up when traffic is heavy but the main issues are behavior - aggressive drivers who cut into traffic or cover the south lane while trying to turn left, drivers who don't know right-of-way rules, and hesitant drivers who sit forever despite many opportunities because they are afraid to accelerate, rather than coast, through a turn.

There definitely needs to be a pedestrian solution there. It's unrealistic to think that people shouls have to walk all the way to Woodland or Willlard for a crossing signal to get to Gillette or anywhere else in between.
