Description
Parking is horrible south of midland ave. I understand its hard to do much for this issue but a solution is what Harrison has done and that's issue town permits to park in the town. We have many vehicles from out of state along with commercial vehicles that park in Kearny therefore taking up spots that belong to the actual residents of Kearny

I like the idea of painting parking lines. It would clearly show people who are saving a space for someone else. Making it a violation to park improperly would help prevent this.
@ Daron
The town has enough ways of generating revenue. It's bad enough that we have parking meters on main streets.
How would permits get unregistered cars off the streets? If these people are forced to register their cars, you'd still be without a parking spot. I would not like to pay a fee to see more NJ license plates.

Homeowner: yes I live in the U.S. in fact I was born and raised in Kearny. I did not insult you so please be a grown up about the issue at hand and do not insult.
I understand where you are coming from however you should put yourself in others shoes. If you live in kearny then you are very much aware that there is hardly ever parking here. A lot of people refuse to use their driveways making the situation even more difficult than it already is. Just in my block we have people taking more than one space for just one car, and we have many driveways empty. Is that really necessary?
We.are in 2013 and most households have at least 2 / 3 vehicles per household. People should be considered of others. Issuing parking permits may or may not be the right thing however, this issue is now on the table letting people aware of whats going on and that's a.step ahead.

@ Kearny Resident: I don't think it's a good idea to tell people what to do such as: homeowners should be required to park on their driveways. I understand that it is frustrating, but sometimes one needs to take a step back to think about how such force is fair.
@ Homeowner: Saying that non-homeowners can contribute to our town sounds like you want to share your bills. I'm not sure how that is much better than Kearny Resident's comment that homeowners should be required to park on their driveways. Why do you think they don't pay their fair share in rent?
@ Daron: You seem very sure of your plan to eject rouge cars from the town. Do you have any evidence to back this up? Calling the town or filling out forms could be another source of frustration. I can only hope that it won't be as frustrating as dealing with NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. How would vehicle registration with the state help the parking situation? Also, how would the situation in the site below be avoided?

Homeowner; I rent in kearny and understand kearny resident point of view. It is a headache to park here specially at night.
P.s. We renters also pay taxes so that your children, my children, and kearny resident children go to school what you said about taxes was absurd.

@ Vitor...FYI regarding your comment @ Homeowner: Saying that non-homeowners can contribute to our town sounds like you want to share your bills. I'm not sure how that is much better than Kearny Resident's comment that homeowners should be required to park on their driveways. Why do you think they don't pay their fair share in rent?
...please do explain or show me where I said that I want someone to "share my bills"? I happily pay all my own bills in a timely manner, thank you very much. If you read my comments correctly, (which it does not seem that you have) what I said is that this system would generate more INCOME for the TOWN (not me, i do not want or need your money) however, the town of Kearny does need more income and it would be nice if the town had more income as us homeowners and business owners pay most if not all of the taxes for the town, so why not have the renters pay a fee for parking, if they are complaining about it being an issue, (which of course they are on here) then they should help resolve the issue. And I don't care what renters pay in rent (I don't pay rent), if you want to live somewhere you need to pay rent, do you not, really it's a fact of life: you have to pay your way? Got a little change in my pocket going ging aling aling!

@ kearny resident comment: Also, us ( the none driveway households) have the same rights. We PAY taxes so that your children also go to our schools along with my children. So please do not be an ignorant racists about the issues on here. Thanks for your.comments and.concerns!
Why must you feel the need to call people names, you are calling me an "ignorant racists" when you know nothing of me...again this is where I will call you out. The name calling must stop, really do you want your children to here their mum or dad call people names? Don't you realize it's very disrespectful and unmannerly. I'd be careful with that, you would not want your child to repeat this type of behavior at school as it would not be taken lightly. I can't say this enough, we should all...Live, Laugh and Love!!!! :)

@ Homeowner
I didn't say anything about your ability to pay bills. You said, "This way the "non homeowners" can contribute to our Town too :)." This comment sounds like you think the "non homeowners" are not paying their fair share (which means you think you are paying too much). You've confirmed this in another post when you said, "it would be nice if the town had more income as us homeowners and business owners pay most if not all of the taxes for the town, so why not have the renters pay a fee for parking." Your understanding that business owners and homeowners pay most of the tax bill makes you eager to burden renters.
I don't understand why the town needs more income? Does the town need more income like the Fed needs more income? Come to think of it, I could also use some additional income.
If you want someone to blame for the disproportionate amount of taxes, do not look look further than the people who make the laws.
