An excellent good idea.
But PennDOT especially showed its incompetence by leaving the Sumneytown/Allentown light active during the past year's bridge construction. It's totally unneeded and causes people to sit for minutes at an intersection with no cross traffic at all.
An all-too-typical example of PA government in-action.
