Description

The abandoned Star Supply Site on the bottom of Mechanic St is a major eyesore and dumping ground in our neighborhood. There is a long stretch of grassy area on the sidewalk that would be a perfect Greenspace. It is now inhabited by overgrown weeds. Is anyone interested in helping me with this? I could use help both with planting and donations of plants.

I would hold off on any major improvement projects till after the proposed developer makes his plans known. It would be a shame to put in a lot of work and then have it destroyed by construction.

I hear what you are saying Debbie. But nothing will be built there this summer/fall. The interested buyer is still developing his new plans.

We are getting help from URI! We will have our first meeting Wednesday, June 5th on the bottom of Mechanic St outside the Star Supply Building at 6pm. We can discuss how to improve Mechanic St by planting along the entire street. URI will supply tools and plants. Please come and help improve our Street. Thanks!!!

Thanks to everyone who came out last night! We cleaned up in front of Star Supply and planted Hostas and Lillis and several spots along the street. We will continue meeting Wednesdays at 6 pm throughout the summer.

We are planting our first tree tomorrow 6/19 at 6 pm. We are meeting at the bottom of Mechanic St outside the Star Supply Building.
The amount of trash being dumped there is significantly reduced already. I hope we can keep this going!

We planted 6 trees. Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6 pm we will finish up with some annuals. The Independent may come out. I hope a lot of neighbors will show to show our appreciation to URI.
