Description

Every single weekend there are cars parked on bike lanes along Pine and Spruce Streets. This negates the benefit of the bike lanes, causes congestion if we have to bike with regular traffic and an unsafe condition. All these cars should be ticketed and towed.

Several of the religious institutions in that area have special parking privileges for congregants on weekends. The permits are also time-limited. The parkers _should_ display a permit while they are there and the city should ticket/tow anyone without such a permit but those there legitimately can't be towed.

Why should the religious institutions get away with this? It causes unsafe conditions. Period. If the churches want to attract people who drive, make them build parking lots.

Your guess is as good as mine - I believe this is a very longstanding accommodation. It occurs all over the city. I'm just sharing knowledge - not defending it.

Haha! As if bike lanes are clear during the week! I can't go 3 blocks without having to get into the traffic lanes because of construction, delivery or just someone illterate and unable to read the sign that says 'no parking ANYTIME'.

Would enforcement be under the purview of the police or PPA? Would imagine it'd be easy for PPA to spot an illegally parked car in the bike lane during their rounds checking car zone tags and ticket/call it in.
