Description
Cars frequently park in the no parking zone on State St. by the intersection with Bradley St., right in front of Cafe Goodfellas. This is a no parking zone for a good reason - cars parked there obstruct the view of drivers turning from Bradley onto State. In particular, at least several times a week I see a black Mercury SUV parked illegally in front of Cafe Goodfellas. I'm pretty sure this SUV belongs to the restaurant owner. He was parked illegally again today. When I asked him to move his car to a legal parking spot, explaining the visibility issue, his response was "Or what?" Way to be a good neighbor, Cafe Goodfellas! My question to the city: Can we get some more active parking enforcement in this area? I'd especially like to see some enforcement on evenings and weekends, when it seems like there is virtually no enforcement at all.

...especially frustrating when there is a city parking lot across the street.
i see this often as well. it forces cars way out into state street. i am often a pedestrian at this intersection and i've had a few close calls with drivers stopping well beyond the stop line just to see.
it is a common problem in east rock. i see it regularly on the corners of nash/lawrence and state/edwards especially.

I had plans to eat there this weekend; I'll take my business elsewhere now.

Try parking in front of city hall same issue. No one cares including traffic and parking. try hitting his car- lets see who gets the ticket then. Calling the Police is also an option. The police are required to enforce parking violations although it may take them several hours- talk to your alderperson and keep calling the police, leave a call back and insist that a ticket be issued every day !!!

there were more cars there parked this evening on my way home from work...

Might be worth taking a picture of the problem and posting here on SCF to give a clearer understanding of this problem.
This is just like the ATV riders, so long as no one is calling them on their crap, they are going to keep on doing it. The second enforcement starts, the problem will go away.
Anyone know anyone at a towing company? :)

Has this been addressed? The visibility issue is a serious danger.

Yet another lack of enforcement issue. Has anyone called a department to complaim or better yet write them so it leaves a paper trail of the non-actions of our great city so they can be held responsible when someone is injured in an accident. Non-action is enforceable if it leads to injury.

An update: The corner of Bradley and State continues to be a major problem, with illegal parking almost every evening that obstructs visibility for turning cars. Why can't we get some late evening parking enforcement here??? One small positive note: the mercury suv noted previously seems to have gotten the message and has started to (mostly) park in legal spots.

This corner has always been a tough one- Have you gotten your Alderperson involved in this issue?? or are the resaurant owner still good buddies with the cops ??

I noticed parking enforcement out two weeks ago.

If this issue is not resolved then enforcement one night every few months isn't going to cut it. Did you actually see tickets on cars cause I haven't and I go through that area almost every night.

I did see tickets on cars and I talked with the Officer who said they were there because neighbors had called.

The police were out tonight ticketing.

I am in shock. NHPD giving tickets WOW. Maybe there is hope.

My driveway is off Bradley and I need to go down that one way all the time.
When I get to that intersection I always see cars parked illegally. In winter time the situation is even more dangerous.
If the NHPD is looking for more income this is a good place to start, if you go there any time of day you can write at least 4 tickets each and every time

Closing this as the restaurant has moved.
